Mysore Palace is the 2nd most visited tourist destination of India just after Taj Mahal. It was built by Krishnarajendra Wadiyar IV in 1912.
The architectural style of Mysore palace is hybrid. That is, its design is a mixture of various schools of architecture. The palace is made in a style collectively called Indo-Saracenic Revival style. It is a three-storied stone structure, with marble domes and a 145 ft five-storied tower. One enters the Palace through the Gombe Thotti or the Doll’s Pavilion. This collection also has a wooden elephant that is decorated with 84 kilogrammes of gold.This palace was was destroyed in a fire in 1897. Note the massive wooden columns of the porch. A large part of this palace was made of wood, causing the damage complete in that fire accident.
